Holiday Wedding Décor

Winter weddings are incredibly beautiful, but a Holiday wedding has a certain air of magic that we just love. Though summer and fall weddings dominate in popularity, we think weddings around the holidays have some of the most beautiful décor. Ranging from festive and merry to frosty and glamorous, see all the different options in this blog!

Theme

Your theme is one of the first things you should consider after getting engaged. It can determine your venue, date, and décor. If you’ve decided to have a Christmas or holiday wedding, there are several themes that are equally beautiful as they are diverse!

Merry and Bright

Festive, traditional, and cozy, this theme will remind you of the holidays during your childhood. Red and green, pine trees, plaid blankets, garland, and strings of lights are must-have décor items! Mix and match vintage seats for a homey feel and add candles to symbolize the flickering light of a cozy fireplace. Hang a few wreaths, offer iced cookies and hot cocoa, and have your guests decorate a tree! Your wedding will be festive, jolly, and not quickly forgotten!

Winter Wonderland

When you think winter, what comes to mind? For us, it’s snowflakes, snowmen, frosted trees, and icicles. That’s exactly what this wedding theme embodies. Use stark white and frost blue for your color scheme, and accent them with soft pastels. An ice sculpture, luge, or bar top would be a classy addition to the icy atmosphere. Add pine cones to your décor along with raw-edge wood, bare branches, and luscious faux fur rugs. These additions will make sure your space is welcoming and comfortable without compromising your frosty theme!

Silver and Gold

A lot of people think you can’t mix metals. We’re here to rectify that statement! If you still want a classy, sophisticated, and formal wedding during the holiday season, incorporate a silver and gold color palette. Silver linens, gold chargers and utensils, and crystal goblets will make your reception look expensive and chic. You could even add a touch of rose gold for a pop of color. Use frosted pine cones, sparkling snowflakes, and white holly berries as accents. The best part is that champagne is totally on theme with this palette!

When it comes to table settings there are a lot of details you need to think about. Here’s our checklist:

  • tablecloth
  • napkins
  • silverware
  • dishware
  • chargers
  • placemats (optional)
  • chargers (opt
  • wine glasses
  • water glasses
  • menu
  • name cards/holders

For a festive and appealing display that screams holiday spirit, you’ll need more than the standard rentals. Look into buffalo plaid napkins or red velvet tablecloths, wooden chargers, and evergreen name placements for the Merry and Bright theme. For your Winter Wonderland wedding, pick out frosty blue plates and polished silverware, and acrylic menus. Gold-rimmed chargers, a mercury glass goblet, and silver snowflake napkin rings are perfect for the Silver and Gold theme.

Signage

Signage is one of the hottest trends in weddings! Calligraphed quotes, chalkboards, directions, and more can all be displayed on signs. When you’re holding a holiday wedding, take advantage of the many quotes and lyrics of the season! O Holy Night, Gloria in excelsis Deo, Let it Snow, Mistletoe and Champagne, All I Want for Christmas is You, Baby it’s Cold Outside are all great options! You can also use your favorite love quote or a Mr. & Mrs. sign and just add a festive wreath or drawing as the background!

Cakes

Buttercream is the perfect icing to use for your winter holiday wedding cake. It can be blended to create an ombre effect, piped like a sweater, or resemble a blanket of fresh snow! Adorn them with berries, evergreen, and branches. Your bakery may also be able to create crystal snowflakes from sugar or isomalt. They can also use fondant to create edible flowers, pine cones, pine trees, ornaments, and figurines! You can use a muted color palette, use gold foil, or handpaint ruby or emerald patterns.

Flowers

When you think winter, flowers don’t immediately come to mind. It’s hard for flowers to bloom in the snow! If you do think of Christmas flowers, it’s most likely poinsettias. While you can absolutely use those in your arrangements, there are other options!

Your florist knows which flowers are available in the winter and can make it festive yet classic. But, you should request eucalyptus leaves, evergreen, holly berries, and mistletoe! Sprinkle in pops of color with a red rose or camellia. Reflect the snow with a white gardenia or calla lilies. One great idea to separate your bouquet from your bridesmaids’ is by having a fully white bridal bouquet and red bridesmaid bouquets!

Because it’s Christmas time, it is a must that you include wreaths and pine trees in your decor. This is non-negotiable. You can have them pre-decorated, leave them bare, just add lights, or have your guests decorate it during the cocktail hour!

Favors

If you’re throwing a holiday wedding, the obvious choice of favors for your guests would be an ornament. Have it personalized with their initials beforehand or by a professional at the wedding! Include your wedding date, name, and/or hashtag so they’ll remember your wedding each year they decorate their tree.

If you’re environmentally aware or just want a unique idea, consider miniature pine trees! Hot chocolate mix, scented candles, fire starters, and Christmas cookies are also great options your guests will love.
